Let’s talk about randomness. The world is random, and random is the world.
Feelings are our never endless desire to catch, reduce, and feel less randomness. Emotions come at the expense of certainty, and certainty at the expense of peace but there are few things that can be known about the future and about our lives.
We try to keep the randomness in control. That’s why we do what was done before us so we can expect a definite result. That's why we go to school, get jobs, buy stuff, and do the things people did before us. It’s the desire to keep randomness out of our lives. But as much as we can feel and touch this desire, randomness is a force of nature and will show up and disrupt our ache for certainty, and what we think comes with it such as peace and calm.
What’s our solution?
We want things to be less random because less random looks closer to perfect. But randomness is often the farthest from “perfect,” we become uneasy and start suffering from illnesses of the mind such as depression, anxiety, and irritation. The desire to be perfect makes you give up your humanity at the expense of not appreciating that which is but appreciating that which should be and could be.
Embrace randomness, or let randomness embrace you.
