Hi everyone,
My sophomore year starts tomorrow but the marathon has already begun.
Not only have I started studying but I’ve been walking around more than I would’ve expected.
Perhaps another benefit of college is indirect exercising.
This semester will be the most challenging yet. I’ll be taking two physics classes (E&M, I see you), calculus 3, and data structures.
Although it will be time-consuming and at times tediuos, there’s nothing else I would ever want to learn more about and yes, study.
Wish me well!
Curiosities 📱🤯📲
Curiosities were out for a few weeks as I was trying out a new essay-like format. But I think Curiosities should be here at least once a month because 1) I enjoyed writing them, 2) they help me reflect and reinforce what I’ve been learning throughout the week, and 3) perhaps someone out there will find them as curious as I do.
1. My Favorite App (for reading)
I try to make my phone as boring as possible but I have to admit I have one exciting app called Matter.
Here are my favorite features
Discover great timeless articles
Unclutter your email inbox by reading newsletters in the app
Social reading (you can see what other people read, highlight, and share).
Browser extension to read later (including twitter threads, and any article in the web).
Beautiful design
The app is currently invite-only. But I’ve been a beta tester for a while so I have some invites.
Reply to this email, or leave a comment. I’ll send them over.
2. Pedometer App
Not sure why but if you’re wondering what app I used to count my steps in the picture above. Here’s the link to download it.
Why do I use it? No particular reason. I find it interesting and secretly pushes me to be more active.
3. Edit Videos/Record Your Screen/Transcribe Audio
Descript exactly does that.
I really like their record screen and camera feature. I’ve used it in multiple videos like this one.
4. How I Tweet without The Twitter app
Social media is addictively distracting so I don’t have those apps. But I still think Twitter is great to meet and learn from the smartest people.
Check out this tutorial to tweet without the Twitter app from your phone.
5. Calculator App
“A calculator without equal.”
I’ve been using this app for about three years, and I love how fast it is (no need for equal!!🤯). It’s probably saved me a lot of minutes and seconds.
Download here.
Not sure how this issue turned out to be an app recommendation one but I hope it’s useful.
What was your favorite? or most unexpected app?
See you next time,
